About Empower the Gap
After years of being a stay-at-home mom, I’ve found myself facing an uphill battle trying to re-enter the workforce. Either I hear crickets or that my experience isn’t ‘recent’ enough. I’ve tweaked my resume, adding my parenting break as a badge of pride, but it feels like the gap stands out more than my skills. I know I’ve grown and gained capabilities during my time away, but translating that into professional value feels overwhelming. My confidence has taken a hit, and I often wonder: Do I have what it takes to land a meaningful, well-paying job again?
That’s why I created Empower the Gap—to change the narrative around career gaps and stay-at-home moms. A gap on a resume isn’t a sign of inactivity; it’s a period of growth, resilience, and transformation. Moms navigate challenges that hone crucial skills—time management, problem-solving, communication, and adaptability—that any employer would value.
Through Empower the Gap, I want to help moms not only rediscover their confidence but also articulate their unique strengths in a way that resonates with today’s job market. And equally important, I want to challenge employers to see the potential behind the ‘gap’—to recognize the untapped talent, perspective, and dedication that moms bring to the table.
